Plan To Arrive Early

1.          Always wear your seat belt

2.        Keep your eyes moving and watch the entire traffic environment.

3.        Look for vehicles entering the road from curbs, driveways and businesses.

4.        Be alert for parked cars, pedestrians and cyclists.

5.        Use rear view and outside mirrors often.

6.        Check to the side several times before turning, merging, or changing lanes.

7.        Never assume you can take the right of way, even if you know it should be yours.

8.        When unsure whether you should pass or change lanes, stay in your lane.

9.        Maintain a minimum 2 sec in town, 3 sec on the highway following distance.

10.       When driving in the rain or in winter, reduce speed and increase following distance.

11.       Maintain space cushions to the sides and behind your vehicle.

12.       Choose familiar routes and avoiding dense and/or high speed traffic.

13.       Avoid driving at dusk or dawn, when visibility is difficult.

14.       Avoid prolonged hours of driving.

15.       Keep windshield, rear and side windows clean inside and out.

16.       Avoid looking at the headlights of oncoming vehicles.

17.       Concentrate on your driving and prepare for the unexpected.
